Ecovillages are often dedicated to stewarding healthy landscapes, healthy people and fostering community. They often have a focus that goes beyond just interpersonal relations but also highly value land stewardship and its ecological functions.
Most Community living models as GEN states are “living laboratories” or experiments, and like experiments many of them fail. However, it is through this trial experimentation process that we discover what works and what doesn’t.

Milenco’s biggest motivation of founding Pomegranate Center was as an artist, he wanted to see more art in communities because he believes it influences and embellishes everyday life. Since 1986 the Pomegranate Center has worked with hundreds of communities around the Greater Seattle area and tried increasing community engagement within their projects to make successful and stronger communities.
“No in my backyard” — a common concept that potentially prohibits social justice and discourages us work toward a better community for everyone. Homelessness, for example, is a serious issues that causes many of us to look away.
According to the Northwest MLS, between 2011 and 2016, home prices in Pierce County rose 29%. Prices rose 38% in Snohomish County and 38% in King County. In 2011, the median home price was $340,000, but it jumped to $548,000 in 2016.
While Seattle has seen an incredible groundswell of energy in the urban agricultural movement in the past five years, 2010 is officially our Year of Urban Agriculture.
